Matthew O’Neil over at ALA published an article on easy blend CSS backgrounds in November last year and I’ve only just picked it up. The idea is to use a transparent PNG that blends into transparency showing the background color beneath it. This allows quick and easy ways to change a colour scheme with the same image further reducing time spent working on it.
It even works in IE 6 that has no PNG transparency support. You can read it all here
Right I’m off to try it out and add it to my arsenal, try it out yourself!
