Peekvid was once king in my eyes. It offered everything I could want, TV shows, movies and the adult cartoons I enjoy so much (Family Guy / South Park). Suddenly the newest shows stopped appearing and the links slowly became dead.
Enraged that I could no longer watch lost the morning after it shows in the US, I went on a hunt. TV-Links came up in my browser and I found my new home.
So here are 5 Reasons why TV Links is better.
1. Tv-links has a ‘report this as dead’ link in the player window. I like to get involved in sites I enjoy so I’ll happily report back to the admins and help them keep up to date. While it’s true Peekvid has added such a function it’s on a separate page to the failed video you’re trying to report and looks like the button was thrown in as an after thought.
2. New shows from major series always appear quickly, where as Peekvid can’t keep up. For example South Park is well into series 11 yet Peekvid has only some of series 10.
3. The forums. It’s always fun to get involved if only to watch the members argue over why Buffy is much better than Angel. The staff are friendly and try and accommodate people as much as possible.
4. It’s not Winamp TV. When W TV first came along, it was great to watch ‘the family guy channel’ and see all the episodes stream but it was often full and required paid membership.
5. Reliability. This format cannot be anywhere near 100% reliable due to it’s very nature, with dead links being created every day but because TV Links has such an active community, replacements are found in hours sometimes minutes.
It’s great to see this type of thing run so well, especially now that someone has released a Peekvid clone, soon to be flooding the market with horrific copies of what already exists. It’s a format thats unlikely to last long with the constant removal of videos from file sharing sites causing dead links, but hell, it’s free and easy so enjoy it while it lasts!
