It’s the end of my Univeristy year right now and I have multiple pieces of work to hand in so I have little time to update. To tide you over while I finish here’s a little bit of info on a beetle
A small hive beetle known in scientific circles as Aethina Tumida has been found to ‘hack’ bee hives.
The beetles use the pheromones of European honey bees to confuse the defenses so they can feast on the goodness inside. The beetle carries a strain of yeast that produces the same alarm chemical the bees use to warn of danger. The worker bees become so confused it allows other beetles to enter and the hive came be destroyed.
