How old posts can generate new income

Affiliate Schemes, Blogging Add comments

“Deep linking, on the World Wide Web, is making a hyperlink that points to a specific page or image on another website, instead of that website’s main or home page. Such links are called deep links.”

This is what Wikipedia has to say on the subject of deep linking, but how can a blogger use it to generate income?

Spending the extra time investigating and linking to specific products via an affiliate scheme can generate income long after you have forgotten about a post. If you were to write a post about online marketing you might link to a specific book on Amazon. Six months later the post is in the archives, still listed in the search engines and still getting hits. Anyone that purchases the book on your recommendation leads to bigger numbers on the commission check Amazon sends you every few months!

I’ve used Amazon as an example here but any affiliate scheme will work in the same way. Spend the time researching good products that have received positive reviews and you’ll be generating money from old posts for as long as your site exists.
