Making money online is by no means limited by age, anyone can do it with the right advice. This article is aimed at the older person who wishes to get involved but it may apply to anyone with the desire to make money online.
First I would like to start with a great example of a gentleman that has become very popular with his Youtube videos. As far as I know he holds no desire to make money but his popularity is a great example of how it’s quite possible.
Peter (aged 79) releases video Blogs on the popular video website Youtube each week and at the time of writing his videos have received a combined 1.8 million views and 44,005 subscribers.
Peter does nothing more than tell the story of his life, reminiscing on old times and events which people love to listen too. You can view his Youtube Profile and Website to see his work.
So, proof then that people are interested in stories of an individuals life, no matter who you are or how old you may be, in fact the more experienced you are the more stories you will have to relay. Whether you have stories from the war or memories of the swinging sixties it doesn’t matter, there will always be an audience for your tales. The question I’m sure you’re asking now is ‘how can I get involve?’
Well there are a number of ways you can go about it, unlike Peter you don’t need to record videos, you may not have the ability or the interest in doing so but the written word is just as effective.
Telling your stories has never been easier since the widespread introduction of Blogs, an automated way to publish your stories online for the whole world to read and see. You don’t need any advanced knowledge or skills to get up and running but the longer you Blog the more you’ll learn and the better you’ll become. This website holds a lot of information on the subject which will always grow so I encourage you to browse other posts once you’ve got your site ready to go.
People take up Blogging for a number of reasons; to keep in contact with family and friends, as a hobby or for commercial purposes, but for an individual to run a Blog it’s important to have a genuine interest in doing so. Making an income from your work is always an added bonus but without the passion to post you’ll find it more a chore than a hobby.
If you’ve got this far I have to assume that you’re interested in putting down the stories of your life and are ready to start your own Blog… well lets get to it!
You need three things to start; a domain name, hosting for your website and WordPress, the software that will run your Blog. ( This is written and displayed in wordpress ) For someone that’s never Blogged before the best way to get all three is to go with a hosting company like World Registration. While it’s based in the UK it is not exclusive to UK residents and offers a one click setup of the WordPress software and offers online help and advice cutting out the need to install and setup the software yourself (which can be a painful experience for a first timer).
I have a professional involvement in World Registration so I have written a page specifically for its users. If you follow the instructions you’ll find yourself ready to go in minutes and myself or others are available to provide help and advice.
If you’ve got this far (apologies for the long post) then brilliant, you’re ready to get going!
Here are a list of posts I think will be useful to the first time Blogger, I will add to it as and when a new post is relevant
