This beer is both awesome and evil. Awesome because I like the taste, evil because I drink too much of it. Despite the fact I have lectures in less than 6 hours I’m still awake trying to let my body deal with it. In my drunken state I have (finally) come to the realisation that Digg has been overrun by 13 year olds and website owners desperate to whore themselves out for a few hours of extra traffic. Here’s a few reasons why it’s pointless:

1. Most of the time your lame server is going to crash or your Wordpress isn’t going to handle the load

2. 99.999% of the traffic that tried to view your site will never come back and will cause reason 1

3. The traffic your getting is largely young teenagers or people with short attention spans and the orgasm your daily stats will give you will be short lived

4. More often than not your story will be misrepresented with a poor title that will annoy a lot of diggers.

I’ve been hit with a digg traffic spike and frankly I don’t miss it. I’d rather have people find my site organically than a digg hit which results in fickle American teenagers giving their stupid and pointless opinion on one of my stories.

(please note I do not consider all Americans stupid, but it is often the type that Digg attracts).

If you’re younger than 17 no one cares about your opinion, you’re not old enough to have one. Stick to computer games and ogling the girls in school your too geeky to get.
